Launch of the UBC School of Public Policy and Global Affairs

The UBC School of Public Policy and Global Affaris official launch event and symposium took place on September 14, 2017. The Policy School is founded by the Liu Institute for Global Issues and the Institute of Asian Research, and is partnered with the Canadian International Resources and Development Institute (CIRDI) and the Centre for the Study of Democratic Institutions (CSDI). It serves as an interdisciplinary hub for innovation and learning, and draws upon the expertise of University institutes, research centres, and faculties, as well as invites collaboration with local and global communities.

The launch event featured remarks from President Santa Ono, Dean of Arts Gage Averill, Director Moura Quayle, and Senator Yuen Pau Woo, as well as a keynote speech by former B.C. premier Gordon Campbell. The symposium featured panels discussing the Policy School’s future and the role of “global change makers.”
